From Who’s Jim Hines?

“Naw—you don’t understand. The union’d stand behind me. They’d back me up. I wouldn’t need Jim Hines if I had the Teamsters behind me,” Douglas Ford explained.

At the mention of that name—Jim Hines—Doug sat straight up. The bowl that had been resting between his knees crashed to the ground and shattered all around him.

His father saw what had happened out of the corner of his eye and rushed over to where Doug sat. He leaned over and said in a low voice, “Don’t worry, son. I’ll get a broom and help you clean this up.”
Doug grabbed his father’s arm. “Who’s Jim Hines, Dad?”
“He’s a driver son.”
“Why do you need him to work for you?”
“It’s business, son.”
“How does he back you up?”
“Just like I said, it’s business. Now let’s get this mess cleaned up.”
